Graduate Research Assistant

The Department of Biostatistics, Bioinformatics and Biomathematics is pleased to offer financial assistance to a select number of master’s students enrolled in the MS in Biostatistics program through part-time academic employment, assisting a faculty member with his or her research. The Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) position is offered and provided on a per semester basis, depending on availability of projects.

The GRA conducts research under the supervision of a faculty member or a Principal Investigator from the Georgetown University Medical Center on a project in the supervisor’s area of expertise. The project may involve any aspect of basic science, cancer control, clinical trials, microarray analysis, population science, epidemiology, database and bioinformatics or proteomics.

The Director of Graduate Studies assigns qualified master’s students who intend to matriculate to appropriate projects based on the students’ background and skill set. The GRAs are expected to work approximately 20 hours a week and will be compensated up to $5,000 per semester.

Note: This compensation amount is not reflected in a deduction from the student’s financial account, but is provided as a check for work completed during the part-time employment.
